Allstate Corp. said Friday it will modify its use of credit reports in setting rates for home and auto insurance in the settlement of a federal class-action lawsuit brought by consumers over the practice, according to a story last week by Reuters.

Seven minorities who claimed Allstate’s use of credit scoring discriminated against Hispanics and African-Americans filed the lawsuit in 2001 in San Antonio, TX.
