IAT, a leading provider of communications solutions for the collection industry, healthcare and related markets, donated CT Impact broadcast messaging services to the Utah Food Bank, a non-profit organization committed to combating hunger. The calls reminded Boy Scout Leaders throughout Utah of the date of the Scouting for Food Drive, which was held on Saturday, March 26, 2006.

“This year’s drive was a great success! Part of the reason for this success was support from IAT. By offering to help with automated phone calls to scout leaders, IAT gave us the opportunity to relay last minute reminders of this event and solicit participation. It is hoped that this component will become an integral part of future Scouting for Food Drives,” said Jeff Golden, Director of the Utah Food Bank.

For over 20 years Boy Scouts in Utah have participated in the annual Scouting For Food Drive, the largest single day annual food drive event in Utah. The food benefits the Utah Food Bank along with regional food banks and pantries throughout Utah. One of the most important parts of this drive involves reminding scout leaders of the date and reminding the general public to leave bags of food on doorsteps for the scouts to collect.

This year the Utah Food Bank received nearly 550,000 lbs. of food, the largest total in three years, with the state wide total nearing 1.5 million lbs. of food that will feed hungry families and children struggling with hunger.

“Automated messaging was added just this year and led to the large totals,” said Golden. David Rudd, IAT’s President and CEO, said, “IAT, as a Utah based company, is concerned with of the quality of life of Utahns. I am pleased to hear that CT Impact’s messaging technology contributed to the success of the Scouting for Food Drive and that so many Utah families will benefit from our efforts.”
