Taking on market incumbent Visa International, MasterCard Inc. has joined forces with HBOS Plc unit BankWest to launch a debit card in Australia as credit card spending slows.
Leigh Clapham, general manager of MasterCard Australasia, said the company also plans to issue its prepaid debit card through three other banks next year.
