A former employee at a Virginia law firm that specializes in debt collection has been charged with embezzlement and forgery, according to local TV station WVEC.

Norfolk, Va. police say that Denetra S. Grimes-Hamlin allegedly used letterhead from her employer, Glasser and Glasser P.L.C., to write letters to clients asking for money to settle their accounts. The offenses took place in April of this year and she was arrested in May.

A person associated with the firm told WVEC that Grimes-Hamlin no longer works at the firm.

She is scheduled to appear in court June 16.
