Publix Super Markets Inc. on Tuesday said it filed suit against Visa and MasterCard, the world’s biggest credit-card associations, over the fees they charge merchants to process transactions.

In the suit, Publix alleges that the two companies and their member banks engage in deceptive practices and restrict competition in violation of U.S. antitrust law by refusing to give merchants the chance to negotiate lower fees.
