CheckFree Corp., which makes software that allows consumers to pay bills online, said on Wednesday that its fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose nearly 5 percent thanks to strong growth in processing and servicing revenue.


CheckFree also said its profits going forward could beat Wall Street estimates, sending its stock higher in aftermarket electronic trading.


Net income at the Atlanta, Georgia-based company rose to $11.9 million, or 13 cents a share, during the fiscal fourth quarter, from $11.4 million, or 12 cents a share, during the comparable quarter last year.
