Associated Credit Union is issuing 3,000 new Visa-branded check cards and credit cards to replace accounts exposed to possible fraud in a security breach.


Glenn Miller, senior vice president of marketing at Norcross, GA-based ACU, said Visa USA told the credit union the information stored on the cards’ magnetic stripes ? names, account numbers and expiration dates ? were compromised at a credit card processor.

Visa did not identify the third-party processor, Miller said. But the credit union’s move comes less than two weeks after Atlanta-based CardSystems Solutions acknowledged a 2004 hacking incident that left 40 million credit card accounts ? including 22 million Visas ? vulnerable to fraud.
