In keeping with their geographic growth strategy, Cleveland-based Javitch, Block & Rathbone (JB&R) will open their seventh office in January 2012, this one in Brentwood, Tennessee.  JB&R is headquartered in Cleveland and has offices in Columbus and Cincinnati Ohio; Indianapolis; Dallas; and Westover, West Virginia.  JB&R has grown regionally by recognizing and meeting client needs in underserved geographic locations which can be readily incorporated into existing systems and operations.

JB&R’s practice is concentrated in the area of creditor representation with primary representation in collections and insurance subrogation.  The collections practice includes recovery of all types of debts: credit card, installment loans, taxes, student loans, rent, commercial accounts receivable and purchased debt.  The Insurance subrogation practice includes recovery of insured and uninsured auto and property claims.

Since 1991, JB&R has grown from a small, single office, to a large firm with 417 employees and seven locations.  Their proprietary software and advanced technology enables them to handle thousands of client files simultaneously with speed and accuracy, and their unique client centric business model allows them to adapt quickly to the changing needs of their clients.

During their 21 years, JB&R has employed advanced technology and fashioned a completely new business model which differentiates them in their industry.  They have strategically evolved, adapted to changes in the economy, and redesigned their business to meet the changing needs of their clients.

Managing partner Joel Rathbone, utilizing his manufacturing background and skill as a software designer, has applied extraordinary new methods to JB&R’s business practices and restructured the way in which they interact with clients and utilize employee skills.  The firm redesigned the procedures for handling the thousands of files they process each day, and designed a new type of teamwork which increased productivity and makes the firm even more client centric.  The system replicates Manufacturing Resource Planning and took an intensive six months to study, develop and implement.

Training of new employees, which once took six months, now has new hires up to full speed in much less time.

As the firm continues to grow there will be new initiatives and new processes will emerge to meet new 21th Century needs and as Rathbone says, “With over 20 years of providing excellent service, our mission continues to be to develop and maintain a personal working relationship with every client and to provide excellence in the quality of our work, responsiveness to the needs of our clients, and quality services at reasonable fees.”
