The Department of Housing and Urban Development does not support the current House version of proposed legislation designed to regulate housing agencies Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, a HUD official told mortgage banking professionals at an industry conference here on Tuesday.

“The House (of Representatives) version is not a bill the HUD can back,” Brian Montgomery, assistant secretary for Housing-Federal Housing Commissioner, told an audience of mortgage bankers.
