Chicago – The Commercial Law League of America‘s Complex Commercial Litigation Committee (CCLC) has announced that it will sponsor its second program. The CCLC program will take place during the CLLA’s 80th Midwest Meeting and 116th National Convention, which will be held from April 29 to May 2, 2010 in Chicago at the Westin Michigan Avenue at 909 N. Michigan Ave.  Attorneys do not have to be CLLA members to attend the CCLC program.

The CCLC program will feature two speakers who will address electronic discovery and legal issues pertaining to the Internet.

On Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 9:00am to 10:00pm, Jonathan Scott, a senior partner who handles complex federal litigation at the Dallas-based business and technology law firm Scott & Scott, LLP, will give a presentation about issues that arise when electronic discovery is not handled correctly.  Mr. Scott will share best practices for the proper retention and management of electronically stored information (ESI) in order to be compliant with the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

Immediately following Mr. Scott’s presentation, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Grant Blumenthal, litigation partner at Tamari & Blumenthal, LLC, a Chicago- based business law and litigation firm, will discuss how the advancement of technology and the Internet has affected the law.  Mr. Blumenthal’s presentation, "Internet and the Law," will include information about the recent business tort and intellectual property litigation aimed at narrowing the gap between the accelerated growth in technology and the applicable governing laws.

Online registration for the Chicago meeting opened February 4, 2010. Visit the events section on www.clla.org for more information.
