The U.S. Federal Trade Commission said on Monday it had agreed to a settlement with the founder of AmeriDebt Inc. in what the agency said was its largest-ever case of deceptive credit counseling.

The FTC said the settlement requires AmeriDebt founder Andris Pukke to give up “virtually all of his assets” for a consumer redress program that could total as much as $35 million.
