The European Commission issued a report on Wednesday stating that consumers and businesses in Europe are paying too much for the priviledge of using a credit card, Reuters reported today.

The report specifically mentions MasterCard and Visa branded credit cards and also forwards the notion of a European Union-wide financial system rather than one based in individual countries.

The European Commission is the executive body of the European Union.
