transmodus, the technology leader in on-demand check processing and collections, announced today that they are working with DataProse, a leading direct mail service provider, to integrate the option of low-cost phone call notification synchronized with the mailing of billing statements and other direct mail pieces to optimize recipient awareness and response. Testing of this process in the mailing of collection letters over the past year showed a marked increase in the success of collection when compared to letters sent without the companion call.

The initial combined service offering will be made on a limited basis to assess market demand and performance. Because of their similarity to collection letters the application of the service to billing statements and renewal notices will be the focus of the first client trials.

“We are always interested in innovative solutions that improve results for our clients. The nominal cost of the call ensures that even a small increase in response boosts return on investment for our clients. We are excited to work with transmodus and I see promise in their technology overall as it applies to our business,” says Glenn Carter, President of DataProse.

Clients will have the option to coordinate calls to announce the statement before it arrives and as a follow up if necessary. Other applications for this technology include fund raising and membership renewal mailing campaigns.

“Based on what we have seen when applying our notification automation to secondary collection letters, we expect to see positive results in the billing statement and other direct mail applications. The addition of synchronized notification calls in the collections process makes a big difference and we will soon know if that is also the case in these direct mail applications, adds Richard McShirley, Chief Marketing Officer of transmodus.

The companies plan to begin offering “Mail Call” during the third quarter of 2005.
