CRN (Coding and Reimbursing Network) Institute, a partner of the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC), is pleased to announce the addition of an online 18-credit Medical Billing and Coding Certificate Program at Drexel University in the College of Nursing and Health Professions.

"We’re excited to be working with Drexel University to offer our curriculum and courses," said AAPC’s Vice President of e-Marketing, Bevan Erickson. "This is a huge step for a major university to recognize the industry demand for well-educated medical coders and billers by offering a certificate in billing and coding."

Along with the many benefits AAPC already provides, AAPC members will now also receive specially reduced rates of 25 percent off Drexel’s Billing and Coding Certification, the Health Services Administration (HSA) Degree and the Nursing programs when they take these courses online. Additionally, AAPC members will receive a 10 percent reduction off the regular tuition rates for all other Drexel online programs.

Gerald Bello, Ph.D., Director of the Drexel Certificate Program and Head of Drexel’s Health Services Bachelor of Science Degree Administration Program, assisted the CRN Institute in the development of the courses and bringing the certificate program to fruition.

"One of the biggest benefits of the Certificate courses is that students can be earning a degree while preparing for a national certification in Medical Billing and Coding," said Bello. "National certification can not only enhance one’s current profession or job position, but certification can also lead to increased job opportunities, including working at home. Since the Certificate program is offered entirely online, it’s very convenient and accessible. In a little less than a year, students can be eligible to take the national exams for their Physician Office based Coding Certification (CPC), Payer-based Coding Certification (CPC-P) and Hospital-based Coding Certification (CPC-H)."
