Two weeks ago, the ribbon was cut outside of Prosperity America Inc.’s new call center near the military hub of Columbus, Ga. Fred Landrum, CEO of the company, said that he wants to leverage the talent of the military in a call center setting (“New ARM-CRM Call Center to Provide 300 Jobs to Veterans and Others,” May 12).

But Landrum — himself a veteran – doesn’t want to provide jobs just for veteran cycling back in to normal life. He thinks there is an opportunity to fill the void left in small towns across America by overseas outsourcing, especially in the call center industry. Rather than sending collection and other call center jobs over to India or the Philippines, Landrum thinks he can provide an alternative right here at home.

Response to the story on insideARM has been very positive. At a time when current economic woes are due largely to dwindling job opportunities in the U.S., I think that many of our readers are encouraged to see at least one company attempt to create some U.S.-only jobs.
