Goldman Sachs Group Inc. will spend about 33.15 billion yen ($275 million) to take a 42 percent stake in the finance unit of Sanyo Electric Co., the struggling Japanese electronics maker said on Friday.


Sanyo Electric, Japan’s third-largest consumer electronics maker, also said it would form an alliance in the TV business with a company whose manufacturing base is in Asia. It did not give the name of the partner.
