Emeryville-based MedeFinance, the leading provider of on-demand business analytics with client services for healthcare providers and health plans, has contracted to implement its Self-Pay Analytics solution at Indianapolis-based Community Health Network, a leading not-for-profit health system that ranks among the 100 most integrated healthcare delivery networks in the nation.

Four facilities in the network including Community Hospital East, Community Hospital North, Community Hospital South, and The Indiana Heart Hospital will use Mede’s Self-Pay Analytics application to maximize collections and reduce bad debt for uninsured, under-insured, co-payment, and deductible patient accounts.

"Mede’s Self-Pay Analytics will help us focus on the most collectible self-pay accounts to maximize our efforts where there is the highest opportunity to receive payment," said Charles Meadows, vice president of the revenue cycle for Community Health Network. "We systematically evaluated several leading market solutions and selected MedeFinance because it was the most robust solution and best-matched to the needs of CHN. Self-Pay Analytics will improve the quality of financial information needed for key decision making at the start of the revenue cycle process, and the advanced segmentation capabilities will classify patients who need some level of charity care so we can help them apply for assistance at the point of admission."

"Community Health Network is taking a comprehensive approach to managing their self-pay receivables by implementing Self-Pay Analytics both at the point of service and in the business office prior to collections," stated Jim Quist, Executive Chairman of Mede. "This combination of front-end screening and back-end segmentation will significantly impact the network’s bottom line."
