The Wall Street Journal is reporting today that Visa USA Inc. has warned that two versions of popular software installed in cash registers could be used to steal information from credit and debit cards.


Citing a company alert issued to firms that process credit transactions for large retailers, the Journal said the software could be used to store customer data on the cash registers, including personal identification numbers.
