Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. (WWR) was the recipient of a First Place Renaissance Award in the Internal Publications category of the Renaissance Awards program sponsored by the Pittsburgh chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

WWR received the award in recognition of its  inTouch newsletter- a quarterly newsletter distributed to employees in all of its offices.  The firm was presented with the award at the 2007 PRSA Renaissance Awards ceremony held on January 25, 2007 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA.

The PRSA Renaissance Awards are dedicated to honoring local organizations, agencies and individuals for excellence in public relations.  The judges evaluated nominations in more than 40 categories.  inTouch won one of two First Place Renaissance Awards in the Internal Publications category.

inTouch debuted in the summer of 2005 with the goals of unifying WWR’s staff and facilitating better communication within the firm.  Alan Weinberg, Managing Partner of WWR, states, “Our firm has undergone rapid growth in the last seven years- we’ve opened four new offices and have nearly doubled our staff from 530 employees in 2000 to over 1000 employees in 2007.  As a result, it has become increasingly important for us to improve communications among our employees and offices.  inTouch is a great way for our employees to enjoy learning more about the firm and also their fellow employees.  We have an amazing group of really talented people with diverse backgrounds.  inTouch has allowed us to share their stories with everyone in the firm.”

Along with business-related articles and general news, the newsletter typically spotlights WWR offices, shares employee stories outside the office, surveys the staff, showcases interesting employees, holds contests, and spreads fun facts about the firm.  Each issue features an article from a partner along with human-interest stories about the staff.

Peter Winzig, Director of Marketing, said, “Typical legal newsletters are traditionally dry and boring.  With inTouch we set out to create something exciting, meaningful and opposite of the standard employee newsletter.  We wanted to showcase our vibrancy, be bold, focus on our people and create a newsletter that was fun to read.  We’ve also streamlined the design and production process, working with our internal team, design partner flourish Agency, Inc., and printer Printing Concepts, and are able to produce an exciting and creative newsletter each quarter.”

The PRSA is the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals. Its nearly 20,000 members, organized worldwide in over 100 chapters, represent business and industry, technology, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals, schools, professional services firms and nonprofit organizations.  The PRSA’s vision is to unify, strengthen and advance the profession of public relations and the PRSA has established itself as the pre-eminent organization that builds value, demand and global understanding for public relations.
