Morgan County in Indiana is getting some help from Ohio-based collection agency Capital Recovery in collecting back child support from folks who assume that the kids’ll get new shoes from the shoe tree out back.

It’s not necessarily the child support itself that people are falling behind on – though that is an issue.  What’s primarily at stake is a $30 yearly child support fee charged by the county.  The money goes into the county’s general fund to help pay for the cost of collecting child support.

At this time, Morgan County Clerk Peggy Mayfield told the Mooresville/Decatur Times that  the list of people who have not paid contains about 3,200 names.

Mayfield said the collection company has more resources available to them to find people who owe the county money. She said the company will charge a 30 percent fee which will be added on what it collects.
