Michael Conflitti built up Pennsylvania-based Northeast Credit & Collections and sold it, for a tidy profit, in 2001 to Commonwealth Financial Systems.  Now, though, he’s back: Conflitti has opened a new firm, American Credit Collections, and is looking to give his old company a run for its money.

The non-compete agreement Conflitti had with Commonwealth Financial has expired, so it’s game-on.

Conflitti expects to add at least 50 people to his fledgling operation over the next year.  And he’s building it up in the same place he built up NC&C.  The agency recently added a client with 35,000 past-due accounts totaling $170 million, Mr. Conflitti told the Times Tribune.
