Acxiom® Corporation today announced that it is making a significant investment in the Canadian marketplace to support new and existing clients’ customer information management initiatives. The first step in growing Acxiom’s presence in Canada is today’s opening of a data centre in the greater Toronto area.

The new facility has been designed to provide marketers doing business in the Canadian marketplace with the same best-of-breed services currently being delivered to Acxiom clients in the United States.

“From our new Canadian data centre we can provide the full range of Acxiom’s industry-leading services, including data hygiene, data integration and database management services,” said Jeff Stalnaker, Acxiom’s client services organization leader for financial services. “We already have clients who are ready for us to serve them from the new facility, which we’ve established to address their desire to house customer information for marketing programs within Canada.”

To oversee its growth in Canada, Acxiom has hired Kevin Klein of Toronto to initiate the operations and manage the opportunities in the Canadian marketplace. Klein brings more than 10 years of direct mail and database marketing expertise to Acxiom.

Stalnaker said that Acxiom will also establish a Canadian headquarters office early in 2007 and that the company is currently hiring employees to staff the data centre.

“Canada offers significant opportunities for Acxiom,” he said. “Many of our traditional U.S.-based clients are expanding their presence into the Canadian marketplace, and there is a rapidly growing number of Canadian companies that recognize the potential of using data and business intelligence as strategic assets.”
