Cleveland, OH — Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. (WWR), and its advertising agency flourish, Inc. were the recent recipients of two Addy Awards at the 2008 Addy Awards program sponsored by the Cleveland chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF).  WWR received the awards in recognition of its Baseball Themed Business Cards, which were business cards specially designed for the 2008 Debt Buyers Association Annual Conference.  The firm was presented with the award at the 2008 Addy Awards program held on February 12, 2009 at Thistledown Raceway in Cleveland, Ohio.  WWR was the only law firm to be honored at the show.

The Addy Awards are dedicated to honoring local advertising agencies, graphic designers, copywriters, Web developers and media companies for excellence in advertising.  The judges evaluated nominations in more than 50 advertising, design and graphics categories and distributed prizes in the Gold, Silver and Order of Merit categories. WWR won two Order of Merit awards in the Non-Traditional Advertising Campaign category and the Elements of Advertising – Photography Retouching category.

For many years, WWR has participated in the Debt Buyers Association (DBA) Annual Conference, an international tradeshow dedicated to the debt buying industry.  In 2008, the theme for the conference was the ‘World Championship of Debt Buying.’ To capitalize on this theme, and bring some interactive activity to the event, WWR developed a special baseball themed booth for the conference.  All messaging centered on the baseball theme with a tagline of ‘Stay Ahead in the Count’ (with the WWR Debt Buyers Program).  Vintage personalized baseball business cards were one of the promotional items developed for the conference, along with attendees in custom baseball jerseys, bubble gum baseball chew and an interactive display where show attendees were invited to throw balls for strikes on a graphic baseball catcher and umpire background

Peter Winzig, Director of Marketing and Corporate Development, said, "Our goal for this conference was to create a tradeshow event that was bold, creative, engaging and memorable. Our management agreed with pursuing an ‘out of the box’ design for this trade show in order to more effectively promote our Firm. We used the vintage baseball business cards that attendees were less likely to discard right after the conference, and we believe the theme really got the attention of the tradeshow attendees."  WWR collaborated with flourish, Inc., a Cleveland-based design agency, to develop the cards.
