Cincinnati — Ernest "Rick" Thomas, III has been elected president of the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA) Board of Governors. He will serve for the 2009-2010 term. 

Thomas – a partner at Thomas & Thomas Attorneys, which has offices in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Ohio, and Newport, Ky. – is a graduate of Thomas More College (B.A.) and the University of Cincinnati (J.D.). 

He also belongs to the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys (NARCA), American Collectors Association (ACA), International Association of Commercial Collectors (IACC), Debt Buyers Association (DBA), and the National Association of Credit Management (NACM).

Thomas also has served as a former CLLA Midwest Region chair, former Young Member Section chair and as recording secretary. He has also been a member of the CLLA of Governors as Attorney Board Member, a member of the Creditors’ Rights Section, Bankruptcy Section and Commercial Collection Agency Association.
 
"The CLLA provides an extremely valuable service, connecting skilled attorneys and other collection professionals across the country with each other to allow them to better represent and protect their clients’ interests," Thomas said. "I am very excited to serve as president of the CLLA for the upcoming term."
 
The CLLA is the nation’s oldest organization of attorneys, collection agencies, judges, accountants, trustees, turn around managers and other experts in credit and finance actively engaged in the field of commercial law, bankruptcy and insolvency.
