Financial Asset Management Systems, Inc. (FAMS) is pleased to announce the addition of Tom Cox to their Sales and Marketing Team.  Mr. Cox joins FAMS as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Education and Government Services. 

Tom has more than 25 years of education and government services experience from both government and the private sector. He served as Assistant Director of Policy and Compliance at the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) for the past nine years.  Cox is recognized nationally for creating and implementing the Default Prevention Outreach Program at ISAC.  He also has been invited to speak at industry conferences and holds memberships with NCHELP, COHEAO, NASFAA, MASFAA and ILASFAA, as well as having served in the capacity of Co-Chairperson of the Default Prevention Subcommittee with Mapping Your Future.  In addition, Tom presented at the U.S. Department of Education’s National Default Prevention Day held in Chicago in 2002, and participated at the U.S. Department of Education’s National Default Aversion Conference held in Boston, in 2005.

Mr. Cox began his career with Diversified Collection Services, Inc. (DCS) in 1982 as a collector.  He advanced through the ranks by being a top producer, gaining experience managing operations and serving as Contract Manager on the U.S. Department of Education and other guaranty agency contracts.  In 1991, Tom was named Senior Division Manager in charge of Collection Operations at DCS.  In 1998, as Student Loan Coordinator, Cox helped GC Services, Ltd. earn consistent first place rankings resulting in contract renewals with the U. S. Department of Education, Sallie Mae, National Student Loan Program and Educational Credit Management Corporation.

Tom’s commitment to education is reflected in his degrees from Triton College, Illinois (AS), Rosary College, Illinois (BA), Dominican University (MBA) and Argosy University-Chicago, Illinois (Doctoral Candidate).  In addition, Mr. Cox is a guest lecturer on the topic of financial literacy at local colleges and universities and is an adjunct professor at Robert Morris College.
