News from my home state of Oregon! Let’s check in: Identity theft rises nationwide.

We’re spending more and more time online — whether it’s maintaining our Farmville farm or tweeting about sharecropper issues we’re having on our Farmville farm or posting pictures of our Farmville farm on Tumblr — and divulging more and more of our personal information, too.

So it’s not surprise to see identity theft on the rise; so much of our identity is ripe for the picking, and too many of us are naive about online protection.

We’d love to hear about how much of your collection business is effected by identity theft. How many consumers are you working with currently who are the victims of identity theft and had no idea that debt was being incurred in their name? What strategies do you use and how much money do you spend on these kinds of accounts? Hit us up in the comments below.
