Local Collector Cries Foul over County's Collection Plan

At least one local collection agency would like to see Columbia County (WI) partner with a local entity to recover delinquent court judgments rather than continue with a pending proposal for the clerk of courts to contract with a Milwaukee collection agency.

During discussion of a county resolution to begin a contract with Milwaukee-based Professional Placement Services LLC, Rick Taylor of Bonded Collectors of Wisconsin in Portage told the county Judiciary Committee on Wednesday that a local agency would do a much better job of collecting debts from the Portage area even though there may be a tradeoff in the amount of money recovered from far-off locations.
