Anderson, Crenshaw and Associates, L.L.C., a collection company, is reaching out to help those less fortunate. Along with their philanthropic activities, the Dallas based company is overhauling the public?s perception of a collection agency as well. Not only are Tom Backal, Chief Executive Officer, and his partner Mike Harrison guiding one of the southwest?s top five agencies, according to ?Spirit? magazine, but the pair are also increasing their involvement in the community by donating their time and money to benefit others in need.

Not only do the partners lead by their example of involvement but they also encourage all their employees to participate in charitable activities as well. ?A leader in the industry should lead in the community as well,? Backal contends. The young executive officer argues that giving back to the community is a privilege and not a burden. While improving the lot of others is their main reward, Backal hopes the pair?s unselfish behavior might coincide with a reversal of the negative stigma that afflicts debt collections at the same time. Backal argues, ?By helping others in the community, we are showing people that there is good that can be found at the heart of collections.?

Anderson, Crenshaw and Associates participates in a wide array of charity events including the IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management) golf tournament to benefit the Scottish Rite Hospital. In the past month alone, company members have helped build houses in west Dallas for Habitat for Humanity and took time out of their day to donate blood to the Carter Blood Center.

Mr. Backal stated confidently: ?Just because our business is collecting money from one segment of the population – the portion that can afford it – does not prevent our involvement in the community. Running a profitable company is an opportunity to give back to individuals and portions of the community who really need it.?
