Residents of the District of Columbia logged the most complaints against debt collectors on a per capita basis in 2009.

According to an insideARM.com analysis of Federal Trade Commission data, debtors in the nation’s capital were the most prone to file a complaint against debt collection agencies and creditors collecting on their own behalf. DC was followed by Nevada and Delaware as the states most likely to complain.

On the flip side, residents of North Dakota had the lowest per capita complaint total in 2009, followed by Iowa and West Virginia.
