transmodus, the technology leader in on-demand payment and collections automation and Empact, Inc., its sales channel partner, today announced the successful completion of the Stop Loss automated check collection pilot phase in Oklahoma. The pilot, which began in July of 2006, involved six district attorney offices selected by the District Attorney Council with over a hundred merchants enrolling in the program.

The pilot sites were selected to ensure diversity in population, geography, current technology, and available staff to review and implement the new technology platform. The results of the pilot proved that the district attorney offices can effectively provide returned check collection automation to merchants through an online system, eliminating the burden of paperwork normally associated with the process. Merchants in the pilot covered a wide range of business types including convenience stores, restaurants, retail, supermarkets, dental offices and pizza delivery.

“Oklahoma has clearly taken a technology leadership role in district attorney aided check collections for our merchants. The advantage that merchants are seeing from enrolling in the program is that they get to enjoy the higher collection rates without doing any work. They make their deposits as usual and any returned checks are scanned into transmodus for processing. We also position the DA office so they have the option to manage the process through the online interface. It is effective, efficient and a very courteous customer service oriented process,” says Stan Templeton, Director of Stop Loss for Empact.

The Stop Loss program is in the process of expanding throughout Oklahoma. Empact is currently in discussions to expand the program to other states.
